Karate Schedule - Lakewood Dojo

Karate Schedule - Love Field/Hombu Dojo

With everyone's lifestyle so busy these days, people often have only a small amount of time to devote to their health and fitness.  With this in mind, martial arts classes at Chamberlain Studios are designed to maximise your time spent during training and deliver the benefits of a complete workout.  The classes and training are designed to improve your health in many areas including:

  • Strength,
  • Flexibility,
  • Stamina,
  • and Balance and Coordination.

All this while having fun and learning real world self-defense in a safe and family friendly environment.  This training is not Cage Fighting or competitive MMA.  Gasan Ryu KenpoTM ("Moon Mountain Style Kenpo") is a practical, efficient, and easy to learn system that incorporates the kicking and punching of Karate, the throws, locks and matt-work of Judo and Jiu-Jitsu, the striking of Kenpo, and the hand techniques of western boxing. It is an offshoot of the Hawaiian system of Kajukenbo and Nick Cerio's Kenpo.

Besides the practical self-defense skills we teach, our system teaches respect, instills confidence through hard-work and self-discipline, and can help develop virtues of character that apply throughout your life, not just in the dojo.

The new classes at our flagship Lakewood facility are designed for beginner and intermediate students.  The classes offer an introduction to martial art fundamentals, including the why as well as the how.

Also, check out our other adult classes such as Aikido, Judo and Jiu-Jitsu, which are offered at the headquarters dojo near Love Field in Northwest Dallas under Classes.

The typical one hour class format splits each session into six, 10 minute training blocks consisting of:

  • Warm up and range of motion,
  • Fundamentals (practice of strikes, kicks, blocks, stances, ukemi, etc.),
  • Review and practice of previous self defense material,
  • Review and practice of previous kata (pre-arranged forms),
  • New material
  • Matwork/groundwork basics.

The Saturday class with Dr. Chamberlain emphasizes review and a good workout!
