Biography - Mike Bush
Sensei Mike Bush was born in Cleveland, Ohio and lived
in many places throughout his childhood, including the New York area, Plano,
Texas, and southern California. While living in California, Mike began to
study Shaolin Kempo Karate with Fred Villari’s Studios of Self Defense in
1989 and was promoted by Fred Villari to first degree black belt in 1992 and
then second degree black belt by Master John Fritz in 1994.
During his time under Fred Villari he trained with
numerous Masters, including Master Russell Streff, Master Bob Bombalier,
Master John Fritz, and Grandmaster Fred Villari. Mike was the chief
instructor and manager for the Laguna Niguel and Dana Point schools.
Mike graduated San Diego State University with a degree
in Communication. During his time at San Diego State, he taught privately
and also conducted Women’s Self Defense seminars for incoming freshman.
In 2008, Mike began training under Shihan Nick
Chamberlain and quickly found a new home in the Martial Arts. Since
training with Shihan Chamberlain, Mike has started teaching a few classes
per month. On October 3rd, 2009, Mike was promoted to his 3rd
degree in Gasan Ryu Kenpo and his 1st degree in Karazenpo Go
Shinjutsu.
Mike has been in the sales field professionally for
close to a decade and is currently Business Development Manager for a large
property management company based in Dallas. Mike lives near White Rock
Lake in Dallas with his wife Layla, his daughter Josie and his dog Parker.
In his free time, he enjoys cooking, trying out new restaurants, traveling
with his family, spending time with friends and trying to keep up with a
toddler.
