Biography - Shane Whitehead

Shane Whitehead was born in Thornton Colorado. It was here that he began his training in the martial arts as a child. Training with David and Sharon Soard in Shaolin Kung  Fu was an experience that opened his eyes to the world of martial arts and instilled a desire to pursue it further.  After graduating from high school, Shane attended the Colorado institute of Art, where he received his Associates degree. (Advertising Design/Graphic Design), and then his BA from the University of Northern Colorado.

Shortly after graduating from UNC, Shane began a career in the Aerial photography field, which led him to Phoenix, Arizona in 1998.  For two years Shane trained with Lew Beintima in an eclectic style of Escrima, until once again, his career brought him to Dallas, Texas in 2000.

It was in 2000 that Shane began training under Shihan Nick Chamberlain in Gasan Ryu Kenpo.  He received his first degree black belt in 2004.  Shane is currently an Adjunct Instructor at Tarrant County College where he is Head Instructor for their TCC Self Defense Program.  He is also Head Instructor at the North Richland Hills, Highland Park and Churchill Satellite Dojos, and a faculty member of Fight Back America.

Shane and his wife Robin have 3 children, all of whom have trained at the dojo.  In addition, with 3 dogs a few cats and some other pets, they have what would be considered a small petting zoo at home!
